Download Instagram photos without installing an app

Screenshotting Instagram photos often crops the image or lowers quality. A cleaner method is to copy the public post link and download the original-looking JPG through a browser tool like ReelDownloader.

Why skip third-party apps?

Many photo-saver apps request broad permissions you do not need. A browser downloader only needs the post URL and works on phones you do not want to fill with extra software.

How to save an Instagram photo

  1. Open the public photo post and copy its link (/p/...).
  2. Paste the URL into ReelDownloader and click Download.
  3. Save the image file to your device.

Carousel posts

If the post has multiple slides, ReelDownloader lists each photo (and video, if mixed). Download the slides you need one by one. See also our guide on saving carousel albums.

Tips for sharper images

  • Use the original post link, not a compressed share preview from chat apps
  • Avoid screenshots when a direct download is available
  • Remember Instagram itself may limit maximum upload dimensions
